On a hot day about a month ago, when our water glasses were dripping wet on the outside, we talked to Lydia about condensation and evaporation. She was seeing condensation with her own eyes, so we thought it would be fun to “show” her evaporation by doing the science experiment every kid in grade school does: we put water in a clear container, marked the water level, then checked it daily for changes.
Our experiment failed in its intended purpose. (Did you even know it was possible for that experiment to fail?!) Here’s our water bottle three weeks after being in a sunny window:

If you look closely, you can see the water didn’t go down at all. About 10 days into it, I would have sworn the water level had actually increased.
From this experiment we have been able to scientifically conclude one thing: Hong Kong is really, really humid.
We don't expect a scientific achievement award anytime soon...
