When we've driven through rural South Florida, we've seen plenty of signs for snake and alligator farms. My reaction to them is always "WHO in the world actually goes to those places?!" Well, apparently WE do...but only in Thailand.
The photo above encapsulates the experience. It was a highly dramatic show where an announcer, in hushed and serious tones, told us that the brave and mighty man who was performing with the cobra was risking his life for us. In the performance, the cobra was chased and harrassed not only by men, but put in a cage with a mongoose (it's natural enemy). Later, there were three men who chased around three highly poisonous snakes, then caught the snakes in their mouths. It was an absolute freak show!
That said, Lydia absolutely LOVED it. She was super excited when they brought the cobra into the audience. She jumped up without hesitation and hustled her way down the stairs to get a closer look:
She was even more excited about touching the cobra. We didn't take any photos, probably because we were holding our breath.
When the show was finally over, we did a quick walk through of the "farm" and saw things like this:

Happily, we needed to get moving to catch our flight to Chiang Mai - we were ready for a respite from busy Bangkok and the crazy snake farm!!
To our relief, the place we stayed provided just that...here's a snapshot of the lovely Yaang Come Village:
More from Chiang Mai soon.
I didn't think it was possible given all of your fabulous trips...but you've finally visited somewhere that I am OK with NEVER experiencing! Ha! : )
