Each year the Girl Scouts of America in Hong Kong has a Father-Daughter dance. This year’s theme was a 1950s sock hop. The girls in my troop made invitations for dads that looked like records (picture above) and waited for the event with great anticipation. We had lively and funny discussions about record players (none of the girls had ever seen one), about the 1950s (might as well have been pre-historic times as far as they were concerned), and “why did girls dress in poodle skirts?” (beats me!).
The day for the big dance finally arrived on Saturday. Lydia had an adorable outfit - the handiwork of her Grandma Linda, featuring a very regal looking cat (at Lydia’s request) instead of the traditional poodle on the skirt. She loved twirling around in it.

Dave went for the Ward Cleaver look; I think he was quite convincing.

Oh what great pictures! I love her outfit and Dave looked just perfect! It looks like she had a blast. I can't wait for Avery to go to father/daughter things. How special!
