A trip to Hong Kong Disneyland on Saturday was the grand finale of Lydia's birthday celebration. It was super hot and humid that day, but we were undeterred.
The journey to Disneyland takes about 90 minutes from where we live - via shuttle, bus, and train. However, even public transportation to Disneyland had that special Disney touch.
Lydia had studied the park map the night before, but she wanted to make sure we had a game plan before we entered the park.
And, our day at Disney began...
First to Main Street...
Then onto the castle...
(I should point out that Lydia dressed in what she calls her "Most Beautiful Dress" and asked me to please wear a skirt. She even consulted Dave on his clothing choice - you don't go to a castle and meet princesses every day, afterall.)
We saw a High School Musical Live performance...
Rode lots of rides, including a spinning tea cup ride. Dave got a little carried away with making us spin fast. I am confident we probably exceeded some spinning speed limit.
If you saw a picture of Dave and me at this point, we were probably turning green.
But, we happily survived.
It's a Small World was my favorite ride (no spinning included!). It was just like Disney World...and succeeded in putting the "It's a Small World" song in our heads for the rest of the day. Lydia snapped a picture of Lady Liberty.
After all that hard work (and to settle our stomachs), it was time for an ice cream break.
We went to a water park where Lydia ran through sprinklers and cooled off - no pictures of that because she was in constant motion. 
If you saw a picture of Dave and me at this point, we were probably turning green.
But, we happily survived.

We went for a spin in "Autopia" with Lydia at the wheel. Thank goodness she won't be driving for real anytime soon!
Finally, we watched a parade and Lydia danced in the street for a while.
Then, it was time to head home. We were all exhausted, but we all had a fun and memorable day.
Lydia's dress is truly most beautiful. So did you meet any princesses? Mickey & Minnie are my favorite and that spinning teacup brings back some great memories from my childhood. I'm glad Tropical Storm Morakot didn't impact your visit to the happiest place of Earth.

ReplyDeleteDisney is truly magical! Our most recent trip was in April, as Meg turned 16 and Abbie at 13. We were in the gift shop just outside Cinderella's castle with all these little girls trying to decide which princess they should be, but most already with a favorite. Our girls were caught up watching all the little ones. Gene asked me if I wanted anything. I just started crying, and told him I wanted to recapture those years of playing princess with our daughters. It goes far too fast! Enjoy!
