Out of the Clear Blue Sky

We loved the clean blue skies in Kansas this summer.  You really can’t fully understand the value of clean air until you’ve lived somewhere that doesn’t have it consistently.

We did, however, have a stretch of time in Hong Kong in August when the sky was crystal clear and we had visibility like never before.  We could see islands in the distance that we haven’t seen in two years.  Even though it was BLAZING hot, it was a joy to be outside to take it all in.  Here’s a snapshot with a friend taken on one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve done:

Hong Kong is a different place when the skies are blue – everything looks newer, crisper, and much prettier; the area where we live feels like a lush tropical island.  For a time, it felt like we lived in a post-card perfect place.  However, one morning we woke up, and the haze had returned, like a veil over the landscape.  

The weather has also changed a bit.  Now the humidity is no longer 100% nor is it a gazillion degrees out...but I'd gladly endure the sauna to see those beautiful skies again!
